Young Europeans between the ages of 15 and 19 years are invited to enter the Data Protection Day competition and create digital artwork highlighting the following theme “Privacy is a human right, handle with care.” From 1 December 2009, you will be able to check out and rate the entries in the project gallery. A panel of experts will then select the finalists from amongst the most popular projects. The winners will be awarded cash prizes for their school or youth club, and will have the opportunity to participate in a film-making workshop. Read more...

This year the European e-Skills Conference will take place on 20 November 2009 in Brussels (www.eskills-pro.eu). The conference is organised by the European Commission and the European Economic Social Committee in partnership with the Council of European Professionals and Informatics Societies and other leading stakeholders. European Schoolnet and PlasticsEurope are pleased to announce the winners of the design Competition which has been part of the “Energy is our Future” School Programme in the school year 2008-2009. The competition encouraged teams of students to search for information and propose a solution to one of the four given scenarios that featured a challenge. The solutions were expected to suit real life situations connected to the fields of energy efficiency, climate protection and resource efficiency. Read more...

The STELLA (www.stella-science.eu) project will hold its last workshops and final conference during this autumn. The workshops will take place in Portugal, Italy, Bulgaria and Germany, and the final conference – open to science teachers and educators from across Europe – will be organised in Nancy, France, on 18 November 2009. The final outcomes of the project will be presented in the conference, such as the STELLA eBook "Science Education in European Schools - Selected Practices from the STELLA Catalogue”. Read more... |

The SAEL Seminar will be held in Sèvres, Paris, on 5-6 November 2009, and will be aimed at decision-makers interested or involved in support websites for language teachers. The two-day event, hosted by the Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP), will focus on the results of the SAEL project as well as provide a unique opportunity of peer learning and good practice exchange with decision-makers from all over Europe and experts from the websites eTwinning, Emilangues, Franc-Parler, Primary Languages and PrimLangues. METASCHOOL is a project that aims to improve the in-service training of school teachers and school ICT staff on topics related to the organisation, sharing, use and re-use of digital learning resources that can be accessed online through learning repositories. One of the project deliverables is a “European state of the art report” which is a review state of the art in metadata and repositories for digital resources that are used in teaching and learning activities in schools.
