This year, EMINENT is organised in conjunction with Uddannelsesforum (Education Forum), a major symposium which attracts more than 2,000 key people from the entire educational sector in Denmark including policy makers, teachers, ICT coordinators. Uddannelsesforum is organised by UNI-C, The Danish IT Centre for Education and Research. The EMINENT 2010 programme is divided into two main parts: EMINENT Classical programme on 8 November 2010 and Education world wide' & EMINENT for teachers at Uddannelsesforum on 9-10 November 2010. The Compendium of ICT in education networks, published by European Schoolnet, provides stakeholders with a reference, and encourages international exchanges and knowledge sharing between organisations with similar missions. From September 2010 onwards, 240 classes in six countries will start the school year equipped with Acer netbooks. The participating countries are France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the UK. This is part of the on-going Acer-European Schoolnet Educational Netbook Pilot. The pilot started already in January 2010 with ten classes in each countries. Despite netbooks still being a new phenomenon in educational settings, there are several projects around the world where each learner has a personal computer, allowing for one-to-one (1:1) pedagogy. The Xperimania (www.xperimania.net) Science Ambassadors tour in spring 2010 reached nearly 400 students in schools across Europe. Both teachers and students were very happy with the science workshops: "I never thought chemistry could be so much fun," was how one participant summed up his experience. Read more... |

Teachers and students from all over Europe are invited to take part in U4energy, a new, challenging, pan-European competition for primary and secondary schools. The aim is to encourage them to contribute innovative ideas on reducing energy consumption and to raise awareness on how to use energy more responsibly. Read more... |

Publishers, individual authors and schools creating digital learning resources are increasingly aware that Learning Technology Standards can assist them in making their content more visible, and easily accessible. In order to celebrate the achievements of all those who have already adopted Learning Technology Standards, and encourage further adoption, individuals and organisations will have the opportunity to apply for the ASPECT Award. European Schoolnet and Microsoft announced a new eLearning Award to reward outstanding teachers in Europe for their work with ICT in education. | EVENTS |

Raise the interest of your students in science and technology careers! After last year's successful first edition, the 2nd European Innovation Summit will take place from 11 to 14 October this year in the European Parliament in Brussels. Like the 2009 premiere, it will be opened with a session entitled "Europe's Future Nobel Prize Winners", aiming to increase students' interest in science and technology careers. About 200 secondary school students from 14 years onwards from all EU Member States are invited to attend this event in the "Hemicycle"; many more will be able to follow it online. Read more... |

SE@M 2010, the 4th International Workshop on Search and Exchange of e-le@rning Materials aims at bringing together researchers and professionals working with learning resources -publishers of learning resources and technologies, managers of learning infrastructures and learning resource repositories, learning professionals and practitioners.
